TRIPLEX MODEL SHOE
We were given the task of using only triplex board to construct a 1:1 replica of any actual shoe of our choosing.
Activity 1: Full Model Shoe
As seen in the pictures, I used wooden plain sticks to create the sole of the shoe and its thickness then proceeded to cover the sole. followed up by making the upper of the shoe. To creating the curviness of it was quite tricky, so I drew multiple score lines on the triplex by using a sharp blade to allow it to bend then glued the upper to the sole. then continued to create the other parts of the shoe, the toe cap, tongue and the laces, which were not so difficult but had to take it a step at a time because I had made a few mistakes a couples of times, which took me back to the very beginning.
Activity 2: section/half shoe
in this phase we were given a task to create a section of our shoe. the approach to this phase was the same as the full model shoe and would say it was easier than the rest of the phases.
Activity 3: Mould
in this phase we were given a task to make a box in which a mould of your shoe fits in. We know mould as a container used to shape a hardening liquid or soft substances and so that was kind of the aim in this task. this task was very tricky because w we had to a create like an ''inside out'' of our shoe and thinking about how to go about that was difficult.
my first step was to draw out the shape of the shoe on the board and cut it out. Then proceeded to build the mould of the shoe around the ''cut out'' shape of the shoe. starting with the sole then the upper of the shoe. The problem with my mould is that it did not have form, it did not have an extruded form.
Reflection
This whole projection has really opened such a creative mind in me but obviously I'm not perfect in it. there is still a lot to learn from this but overall, I enjoyed the project.
